Statement on the Upcoming Loss of SNAP Benefits and Community Support
As reductions to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) takes effect, countless families face renewed uncertainty over one of life’s most basic needs—food. For many, these changes will mean the difference between nourishmen and hunger, stability and struggle.
The Kingdom of Navassa recognizes the deep and disproportionate toll such hardships take on our most vulnerable neighbors. Most especially LGBTQ+ individuals, single parents, elders, and people living with disabilities who already navigate systemic barriers to care and opportunity.
In light of this, Her Majesty’s Chancellery will release emergency funds to support the limited food pantry at the Lilac Library at the Rochester Rainbow Union, a source of nourishment and dignity for LGBTQ+ individuals and families across our area.
The Kingdom of Navassa calls upon members of the community—public institutions, faith groups, and private citizens—to act in solidarity during this time of need. Let us strengthen the spirit of compassion that binds our neighborhoods and remember that our humanity is most radiant when shared.
