Condolences to Katelyn, Trans Youth, and the School of the Arts Community

I join the community in mourning the loss of yet another trans life gone far too soon.

The circumstance surrounding the death of a trans teenager in Greater Rochester on March 24th is a reminder that we as a community must do more in providing support for trans youths.

Regardless of how we look, who we love, who we pray to, or where we come from, we are first and foremost neighbors of a shared community. We must learn to lead with compassion rather than callousness, kindness rather than hatred, and respect rather than impudence.

The youth of our community are watching, and we must strive to be an example they can follow.
